No Lovenite This Year
February 15, 2012 § Leave a Comment
It is with great regret that I have to write that there will be no Lovenite this year as I have been working on a recording project. (Details to follow in due course.) Also I have been busy raising my son who is almost one year old now.
Understandably time is tight so rehearsals with the excellent Kev Hylands is out of the question at the moment. I have although still got the ‘gigging bug’ and would like to do a gig soon so I have booked myself into Oliver’s Jazz Bar to play a set of the music of Tom Waits with my lovely wife. (It’s easier to rehearse when you live together.) We’ll be playing the songs of Tom Waits (and Kathleen Brennan of course) on guitar and violin. Here is a teaser.
Live And Let Die – On Banjo!

I thought I’d record a quick video of one of the songs Kev and I are performing at Lovenite 2010. Kev is actually singing this one and playing bass though the banjo is the same. I’ve cut a bit of the middle bit out, we’ll be playing it in its full glory on Friday. So if you fancy hearing this amongst other songs – some ridiculous, some less so, all great – then come to the 12 Bar Club, Denmark St London. Cheers!
JLS Is Turd

Due to popular demand I have recorded a follow up to my single ‘Westlife Is Shit’ and bring you ‘JLS Is Turd’. When writing this I couldn’t think of any lyrics better than the ones I wrote for ‘Westlife Is Shit’ so I have kept it as an instrumental. Please give me your feedback and please no spelling errors. Thank you
Nicky From Westlife Loves ‘My Westlife Are Shit’ Song!

Happy New Year to you all. I start of this decade by announcing that Nicky Byrne from Westlife has tweeted a link to my ‘Westlife Are Shit’ video on YouTube.
Nicky got the link wrong of course and spelt ‘shit’ wrong but Westlife fans are still somehow managing to to find their way to my video which has brought its predictable onslaught of comments. Some of which are actually supportive but all of which are highly amusing. I have commented back saying:
“Thank you all for your kind comments and for making me the centre of your world. Your comments have made me laugh all morning
Not bad value considering I spent 5 minutes on this project: 2 minutes writing the song; 3m 24 recording it and the rest setting things up. Thank you Nicky for the tweet and seeing the funny side
“
Nice of Nicky to be so supportive saying I need to have a hit with this. Maybe Westlife will record it? It’s got loads of gear changes for them to get up onto their stools and then off them.
Here’s a link to a twitter search for the correct link.
She Sells Sanctuary – Banjo Mix

I was so inspired by The Cult’s gig at Royal Albert Hall the other day I learnt She Sells Sanctuary and played it in New Cross Inn on Tuesday night. The crowd seemed to like it. Thanks to Seb for the camera work
Walking The Cow Video

I recorded this song a couple of years back. It’s a great song by Daniel Johnston. I have always meant to record it “properly” but hey Daniel has yet to do that also. I stuck the song on my iPhone and walked about the London Eye with my Canon G9 on video mode. I would have liked there to have been more of my legs but I also would have liked to have had a tambourine from the second verse onwards. I am pleased with the outcome. It’s difficult walking at that pace in amongst all those people. I might get back into recording again. It’s been over a year since I recorded something properly.
